Veggie bowl for a sensitive stomach
Sep 06, 2022Each day it gets a little bit warmer and brighter outside and so my cravings for light, colorful foods are making its comeback. I notice myself drowning over the fresh fruits in the grocery store and I have a longing for nourishing salad bowls. Unfortunately my belly can’t handle raw vegetables very well, when I eat a raw salad I end up with terrible stomach aches and a very bloated belly.
Previously I didn’t realize that the reason for the bloating was that my intestines was unable to handle all the fibers from the raw veggies, I simply thought salads was healthy no matter what. But when the food is not properly broken down our bodies are unable to enter the nutrients and instead it is fermenting in our gut. Fortunately I am now way more in tune with my body and I am therefor better equipped to pick up on its subtle signals. The deeper I dive into my studies with Ayurveda, health, hormones and the bodies functions I have come to realize that it is pretty normal to react to raw foods. Most humans simply don’t have strong enough digestion and enzymes to break sown the fibers and anti nutrients. However for certain people with more fire in their constitution they may get away just fine by including more raw veggies in their diet. If you are like me however, and you love salads but simply have too sensitive stomach to handle it, this veggie bowl is for you. This bowl still have beautiful colors and gives you the salad vibe but without all the bloating. This recipe is so simple to make and by giving the veggies simple treatment, we are able to digest and absorb it way easier. Ps. if you still want to eat raw salad every now and again, it is best to include it as part of your summer diet when the agni (digestive fire) are stronger.
